Designed to reflect Fiji's rich culture, the 30-acre Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa is on the beachfront of Denarau Island, which is joined to the mainland of Viti Levu by a causeway, and is approximately 12 miles from Nadi International Airport. The resort blends local aspects of the island's architecture and tradition with five-star comfort and luxury. Tropical gardens surround the hotel, which is three minutes from Port Denarau Marina (the departure point for cruises and island boat transfers to the fabled outlying islands of Mamanuca and Yasawa). The resort's amenities include the palm-fringed beach, extensive watersports, 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, and three-tier swimming pool with Jacuzzis. As guests arrive, a row of Fijian Tiki torches lead the way to the traditional Fijian bure entrance while the sounds of the Lali (drum) beats its welcome. The open-air lobby, with its high ceiling depicting the Fijian temple, features water courts with water cascades and Fijian hosts will white tea and scented cold towels to welcome new arrivals. On-site restaurants and bars offer a range of dining options, from the fresh local seafood to sophisticated modern international cuisine. Also on site, Heavenly Spa is in the middle of a 1,350-square-meter meditation garden. The resort also offers wedding arrangements and full access to the facilities at adjacent sister resorts, Sheraton Denarau Villas and Sheraton Fiji Resort, which includes the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club. All rooms feature Heavenly Beds, Heavenly Showers, private verandahs or balconies, flat-screen TVs, high-speed Internet access, electronic safes, minibars, coffee/tea makers, irons and ironing boards, bathroom telephones, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryers, and evening turndown service.
